Description
This is an excursion that combines a 4x4 expedition, a photographic safari and the experience of enjoying a relaxing moment in an authentic Patagonian ranch. Leaving from Calafate, you drive one kilometer along Provincial Route 15 until you reach Estancia Huyliche. After passing through its main house, you will enter the natural reserve "Estancia 25 de Mayo". The first stop will be at an old stone post, where the first family of the estancia lived and where a brief explanation will be given about the estancias, the first settlers, the beginnings of Calafate. The tour continues in the vehicle until we reach the section, an authentic estancia post, nestled in the Patagonian immensity, where we will make the second stop, to start spotting native fauna. The third stop will be made in front of the exuberant fauna, after leaving the vehicle, walking towards the herds of guanacos, it is here where the passenger interacts with the fauna of the place. Then we will travel about 4 km more in the vehicle, and we will access the fossilized oyster deposit, which is 23 million years old. In this place we will talk about paleontology and geology of the place, so that the passenger understands that the desert where they are standing was covered by the sea. Then the trail continues to the south, reaching the Mirador del Centinela, a hill at 1500 meters above sea level, from where you get a stunning panoramic view of endless basalt walls. Here is the fifth stop, where the time to relax and feel the wind and the Patagonian immensity arrives. The return trip begins, stopping at the section, where lunch or dinner is served in an authentic ranch house. The house has a large living-dining room with a beautiful view of the 25 de Mayo hill. Finally we return to the hotels in El Calafate. The total distance is 40 kilometers.
