Description

In this route to Laguna Torre from El Chaltén we will cross glaciers and unique mountains, sport and tourism united hand in hand! Did you know that El Chaltén is considered the National Capital of Trekking in Argentina? To discover the reason for this title, we will pick you up at the Hotel at 9:00 am and start the trekking route to Laguna Torre. The total distance will be 9 kilometers. We will first cross a wooded area of Antarctic beeches. Little by little we will gain altitude until we reach the Margarita Waterfall viewpoint. From here, we will see the canyon created by the Fitz Roy River as it passes through these valleys. No fear of vertigo! We will continue walking up the mountain towards the Torre viewpoint. This natural balcony offers perfect panoramic views of Cerro Torre. Did you know that this massif is the second highest mountain in Glacier National Park? Its 3133 meters are only surpassed by Mount Fitz Roy. We will stop here to rest for a few minutes contemplating the mountains and glaciers. A 2-hour hike awaits us until we reach Laguna Torre. In this section of the hiking route we may encounter an endemic bird such as the Magellanic woodpecker. Once we arrive at the lake we will be able to see from up close the tongues of ice that project towards the interior of its cold waters. You will have time to take as many pictures as you wish. After lunch on the shores of the lake, we will walk back to the starting point. The excursion will end at approximately 4:00 p.m., depending on the speed of the group of walkers during the pedestrian route.
