Tombo - Hidden Island

We leave early in the morning towards the south, traveling approximately 150 Kms. we will arrive at Isla Escondida, a virgin beach, very beautiful that has become an Elephant Seal colony. In this place we will have the chance to see these magnificent mammals of up to 4 tons at a privileged distance, making this visit a unique experience that will remain in your memory for the rest of your life. We continue our trip to Punta Tombo Natural Area, the largest continental penguin colony in Latin America. It is a reserve where Magellanic Penguins arrive annually to nest, mate, have their young and moult their plumage. They then make the return trip to the northeast of South America and cyclically return the following year. The Magellanic Penguin Interpretation Center is a major undertaking of tourist and scientific scope. At the tourist level, it will offer a complete structure of services and a recreational and informative approach to the largest continental reserve of Magellanic Penguins in the world and also about the importance of the balance of the ecosystem and the care of the environment. In the reserve we will walk along a 1500 mts. path among penguins, where according to the season we can observe them digging their caves, fighting for territory, moving from here to there looking for their nests or running after their chicks. At the same time the continuous murmur of squawking -vocalization of the adult penguins that they use to keep strangers away and attract their mate. In the area we can also spot guanacos, piches, maras, rheas. We will have time for lunch (optional - not included). After the visit, we will return to Puerto Madryn.
