Snowshoeing in the Valley

Description

This active excursion starts at 9 am from the hotel with a short 20 km transfer to the Tierra Mayor valley nature reserve, framed by the Alvear mountain range, where the winter snow creates dreamlike views. This hike of a few hours duration and low difficulty allows, in a short time, to enter a landscape of great natural beauty, without much effort, to enjoy its views and its silence. The itinerary is adapted to the weather conditions of each day and to the physical characteristics of the participants: Shortly after getting off the vehicle, you will arrive at a shelter in the forest where the appropriate equipment for the ground conditions of the day awaits: if there is a lot of fresh snow, snowshoes will be offered, and if the snow is compact or if there is ice, crampons will be used. In any case, the equipment provided is easy to use (this activity does not require previous experience) and ensures that this hike is enjoyable. With the help of snow poles, you cross an old axemen's path until you reach the valley, from where you can see the Alvear mountain range. The hike continues bordering the forest through the valley to the east to reach a viewpoint where you can enjoy the winter landscape: lenga forest, rivers and the magical panorama of the Tierra Mayor Valley covered with a white mantle of snow and ice. There, the warmth of the fire awaits inside a dome, where hot drinks and snacks comfort the hikers who will enjoy a panoramic view of the Alvear mountain range, the Beban Pass and the Bonete and Cara Blanca hills. Along a different path from the previous one, the amazing views of the West and North sectors of the frozen valley continue until the first refuge is reached again, where the equipment used for the hike is left before starting the return to the city, estimated at 1:30 pm.
