Description
We set sail from the local tourist pier, navigating the wide Ushuaia Bay to reach Beagle Channel through Paso Chico. There we navigate around Islas de los Pájaros where we will appreciate the fueguina avifauna observing Skúas, Black-browed Albatrosses, Steam Ducks, Cauquenes, Cook's Gulls, and Grey Gulls; and Islas de los Lobos where we can observe one- and two-furred sea lions. Both islands belong to the Bridges archipelago. Upon arriving at Faro Les Eclaireurs (The Illuminators), we can appreciate Cormorant colonies and Rock Cormorants; and also hear the story of the SS Monte Cervantes sinking in 1930. Continuing, we navigate towards the East enjoying the wonderful landscapes of the channel and the surrounding mountains, there we will divide Puerto Almanza on the Argentine coast and Puerto Williams Naval Base on the Chilean coast, and then we will arrive at Islas Martillo where we will have the opportunity to see a colony of Magellanic Penguins and some examples of Papuan Penguins. There, we turn to return to Ushuaia, navigating near the northern coast of the channel appreciating characteristic flora and dividing some historical sites such as Túnel Estancia and Remolino Estancia, where since 1912 the semi-submerged steamship Monte Sarmiento's hull is located. At the end of the journey, you will be amazed by the mountain range that surrounds Ushuaia city and its luxurious nature that surrounds it. It is a journey of great historical and scenic value, visiting privileged and interesting points throughout the entire trip.
